Anyway, we looked around for a good deal, and a car that would accommodate 2 kids at least, plus more in the future. I hate to say it, but we got a minivan :). Since I didn't want to deal with a crappy American car that poops out at 100,000 miles, we decided it's gotta be a Honda or Toyota, but all the sedans for our size were as expensive or more than a minivan, which lead us to looking into the minivans. We found a great deal on a 2002 Honda Odyssey, and that's what we got. We bought it private and the owners have taken meticulous care of the car. Anything that could break has been recently replaced, and the mileage was under 100K. I've really been enjoying my new freedom, I have to say. And Sophia has just been amazed by the automatic sliding doors. It's fun. However, those minivans really are ridiculously huge. I've driven minivans in Germany, but I really think the ones here in the US are bigger. Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't feel like driving a boat when I drove those minivans in Germany...Well, here's a picture of our new 'boat'. It comes with all kinds of automatic stuff, a 6-disc CD player, a ceiling that's not coming off, seats that are clean, and no funny noises while driving.
Then, I ought to mention the cool blog give-aways I've won. I entered two give-aways the same week, and won them both. First time I tried, and first time I've won something cool in my life. And then, there is Miss Sophia.Recently she's been much more of a toddler - getting into stuff, throwing tantrums, and being more fickle about her food. While the tantrums are not necessarily so fun, seeing her more daring and exploring has been. So, I am including a few pictures of her latest ideas. Her favorite new thing is definitely climbing into the bathroom sink to paint on the mirror with soap, or whatever else she can find. Her latest 'joke' is to either run into the bathroom while I shower to turn off the lights and close the door and walk off (our bathroom has no windows, so it's pitch black) or to just open up the door all the way, and turn on the fan so I'm freezing in the shower. Haha!I guess the pictures speak for themselves...
Sophia was playing 'Baby' and got into the bag all by herself, blanket included. Why did we even invest in a crib??? Clearly there is no need.

But if Mom takes away the hand soap, lip stick will work, too.

I agree, minivans are boats. Tell me whether or not they are easy to park. We're still debating since they are so HUGE!!
I love Sophia in the bag too, that's pretty funny and cute. I agree dry erase markers are fun on mirrors and...especially useful in stores when you are trying on clothes, keeps my kids occupied anyways.
love the minivan...we tried to be cooler by buying a honda pilot, and I have to climb in there and break my back to buckle my three monsters.

Well, an SUV certainly looks a heck of a lot cooler than a minivan. And overall I would have preferred that. What put me off was that we are planning on more than 3 kids, and then whoever sits in the back isn't as safe because there isn't enough space in the trunk (if you have kids in the back). If you only have 3 kids, it doesn't matter. Also, getting more than 3 in can be a pain in the back (as you mentioned Marie!). Also, tires are more expensive, because you can't use normal car tires. But, the trade of is that you don't look like a tired old mom driving it. You look sporty and hip. :) Speaking of 3 babies, did you have your baby, Marie!!!! Email me!
Heidi, I haven't had any major parking problems so far. It does take a little getting used to, and I still park worse than I did with our corolla, but I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. I do wish that I would have actually driven a minivan here before we bought ours, so I wouldn't be as much in shock over how big those things are. I really had no clue. I never even looked inside of the car we bought until after we bought it. I just let Henry check it all out. Overall, I have had no issues driving it or parking it. But I wasn't worried about that to begin with. So, if you're concerned a little test drive/test parking might be a good idea. They definitely fit into any normal parking spot though. :)
Schicker Wagen! Ich habe nichts gegen Minivans und könnte mir auch gut vorstellen mit nur zwei Kindern einen zu haben, besonders wenn wir campen fahren.
Ist das ein Aldi Beutel in dem Sophia liegt? Ihr habt also auch Aldi in Ohio. (Geh' da bloss nicht hin, die haben gerade alle leckeren Weihnachtssüssigkeiten... und ich kann mich nicht zurückhalten!)
Ich finde Aldi super. Heute habe ich gerade gelesen, dass Aldi auch Trader Joes gehört, wusste ich nicht.

Haha - ich liebe Aldi!!!! Und ja, es ist ein Aldi-Beutel. Und die Weihnachstschokolade habe ich schon laengst entdeckt. Gluecklicherweise habe ich aber ganz gute Selbstkontrolle bei Suessigkeiten, und damit habe ich ganz bewusst nur ein paar Sachen gekauft. Ich wuenschte, die haetten ueberall Aldi. Ich bin immer so froh, wenn ich mir da mal Schwarzbrot kaufen kann, und es nicht ein Vermoegen kostet.
Es ist auf jeden Fall nett, mehr Platz zu haben mit unserem neuen Wagen, vor allem nach all dem Gequetsche in unserem Corolla. Aber, ich mag so riesen Autos ansonsten nicht, weil es so viel Benzin verbraucht und einfach so pompoes ist. Fuer's camping waer es allerdings auf jeden Fall super. Braucht man gar kein Zelt mehr. ;)
sooooooo cute. I am sad I can't see you all at the holidays. I love how you rejoice in your kids. You are so smart. They really are the glorious flowers of life whether red, yellow or blue. And they don't even have to know what color they are.
I didn't know though that flowers could climb into sinks and draw with lipstick on the mirrors. I didn't even know they had hands.

Franny, the look in Sophia's eyes when she was painting the mirror reminded me of my mom. I love seeing the connections of heritage from generation to generation. The depth of feeling it brings me is out of my reach to describe. Thank you.
