I figured it was time for another up-date on our lives. On Thursday, my friends from the ward threw me a baby shower. They did a great job, making the cutest invitations, and these really cool diaper cakes.
Also there was a chocolate fountain, and tons of nice people from the ward came giving me all kinds of cool stuff. It was really nice to get spoiled, though I felt a little guilty having all those poor students come and give me stuff. I included some pictures so you can see the diaper cakes, and of course, round and fat me. :) Well, actually, I could still gain a few pounds and still would only be at the bottom of the recommended weight gain (25-35 pounds), so I guess I'm not too fat, but then I already had some chub on me before I started off...
Pregnancy has finally taken a turn for the worse. It's not all bliss anymore. I guess a few weeks ago baby decided it was time to start moving downward, and ever since my nights have been far more restless. I have to get up usually every 2 hours or so to pee, and then sometimes I'm just wide awake in the middle of the night. Of course, this has its perks, like me getting to read lots, or call family at decent times in Germany, but sleep would be nice, too. Also a few other ailments have befallen me occasionally, such as some acid-reflux (which went away, however, as soon as I stopped stuffing myself right before going to bed), and occasional pains while walking. Other than that things are still really good and comfortable. Oh wait, I forgot to say how much harder it's been to roll over in bed or simply getting up. It definitely makes me feel like some fat, old woman. The only really bad news: my mid-wife mumbled something about a big head at my last check-up. :( Argghhhh...
Anyway, on to the next thing: the trail of blood. This was just some funny little story from a few weeks ago that I wanted to capture. Henry and I had rented a carpet cleaning machine about 2 weeks ago to clean our cream-colored carpets. They really needed it. Once we finished cleaning the carpets, Henry hopped into the shower, but I was still in cleaning mode. So, I ran off to scrub our walls, window sills etc. I was by the window in our living room (the one end of our apartment - our bedroom/bathroom are on the other end), trying to wipe the window sill, when I stubbed my toe. You know how that hurts, right? Well, I knew the pain would go away eventually, so I ignored it, and kept doing my thing. But when I looked down to my foot, I realized I had torn open my toe, and had been leaving a little blood trail on the freshly cleaned carpet. With nothing at hand to stop the bleeding on my toe except my nasty, dirty sponge, I started yelling for Henry at the top of my lungs. But, Henry didn't hear a thing. I ended up having to hold up my foot in front of me, with the nasty sponge on it, and trying to hop down the hall way to get a band aid. Please, try to visualize this in your head: 8-months pregnant woman, with one foot up in the air in front of her, bending forward to prevent her toe from bleeding, and then hopping forward on one foot. I swear this was one of the hardest things I've done in a while. When I finally made it to our bedroom with the necessary tools to fix my toe, I was fuming that Henry couldn't hear my yelling. I just opened the bathroom door and shouted at him that he's deaf. Henry only heard "you're dead". He was pretty surprised that he could be in such big trouble just by taking a shower. We laughed later one though when he saw the trail of blood and my whole dilemma of trying to get help and then having to hop around superpregnant. Luckily, the blood came out pretty easily, and now I know if Henry takes a shower, and I need help, I better call 911.

The baby shower was really nice. It's nice to have such good friends where we live.
The bloody toe was not as nice. But I'm glad Franny's okay without any serious infections.
