Join Us For Dinner

Here's a clip of our little cutie having dinner. She really enjoys feeding herself, so we usually let her. It gets a little messy, but it's fun to see her becoming independent and showing her likes/dislikes.

Also, today we think Sophia may have said her first word. We're not sure...Of course, she's been speaking German for months now ('da' in German means 'there', so I'd like to claim that she's been saying at least 1 German word for the last few months:) ). Anyway, today when she finished eating, I tried to do the sign for 'all done'. I said it in German and in English while signing it. She's watching those Signing Time DVD's and since those are only in English, I use both languages when I introduce/use a sign to help her make the connection between the signs she sees and the languages we use. Well, when I asked, it actually sounded like she said 'all done' and she kind of waved her hands, too. She also was actually done eating. I wasn't sure whether I just imagined things (because aren't we all just always waiting for that first word, and imagining our kids saying stuff when really they are not?). Henry also thought that it sounded a lot like all done. But, since we weren't sure we dismissed it as coincedence of some babbling that just happened to sound like all done. Just now though, I fed her again, and again I asked her at the end if she's 'fertig' or 'all done'. And again she responded by saying something that seriously sounded as much as 'all done' as any baby talk can sound. I don't think I'll officially declare this her first word because it really seems too crazy to me, but geeze, I think she really may start talking soon...So fun.
