6:54 am EST Poop missile is released by Sophia Larissa Patterson. Shooting Range: 10.4 inches. Target: Mother's Belly. Mission failed due to a quick back jump of target, but missile devastated area withing shooting range. Clean-up cost: 10 wipes, 1 diaper, new towel. Visual evidence not available.
P.S. Sophia slept officially through the night last night, just as she turned four months (yesterday). She slept from 10 pm last night till 6.30 am this morning when I woke her up to eat. She probably would have slept longer otherwise. Yipee!

Double yippee! Because I was well rested for my killer test today!

Yay for sleeping through the night! (nay for the poop missile.)
Your family is so cute, Fran! I'm so excited that you married Henry. He probably doesn't remember, but he helped me learn to drive a stick shift back in the day, such a nice guy. We might be moving to Ohio this summer so maybe we'll see ya!
Yay for sleeping through the night! I'm glad I haven't checked for a long time, otherwise I would have given more unsolicited advice than this...you mentioned somewhere that she doesn't sleep much during the day. Do you think that she might sleep better at night if she's getting enough sleep during the day, so encouraging the naps? Evening naps may also be a good thing once in a while? Also, what about an earlier bed time? I noticed, with all of my kids, at about 4-6 months, they automatically dropped the 10pm feeding and would rather go to bed earlier...7-9pm. They would still wake up around 4-5am, but their total sleep stretch was longer because the late night feeding was dropped. Then, about a month or two after that, they finally drop that early morning feeding for a (Hooray!) 10-12 hour night's sleep.
So, that's where we are right now with E...usually she sleeps through the night, but occasionally she awakes at 4-5 for a feeding. And she's in bed for the night between 7-9pm.
(See my long comment on Crying Babies...I'm only mentioning this here because it's so far down!).
Well, I always try to get her to nap, but for a long time she wouldn't nap well at home, and usually fall asleep in the car seat while going somewhere. In the last week or so, we've actually succeeded in establishing a great nap routine. Also, I used to put her down earlier, and she kept waking up earlier, the earlier I put her down. I felt that maybe reintroducing a later feeding as we had around 2 months might help her go longer again - and it did. Now I feed her at 10pm, and she'll sleep 7-8 hours. In a while, I may try again to make the evening feeding forward, but right now this works well for both of us, and I don't see a need.
As for the crying, I'm sure children will feel loved, if they are loved, even if they are left to "cry it out". But, I still think it can/will influence them in some way or another (my suspicion is that it may make them less trusting as they've learned in their earliest days that when they cried to get help/attention/whatever no one came, so maybe later on when they want help/attention they will not get it). I think it's hard to know what this may or may not do. There are so many things that can impact our children negatively that we as parents might do, you just have to pick and choose your battles I think, and decide what you can and cannot do for your child. I think, no matter how hard we try, something we do is bound to be the wrong thing for our children.
